There's No Doubt - Giving Is Good For All Involved

Many of us have experienced the sheer joy of finding just the right gift for someone we love, and the anticipation of giving it to them. Doesn’t it just feel good and right to delight in that gift being opened and received with smiles and appreciation?

What about giving money or a gift to someone we may never meet? Whether locally or abroad, I personally desire to have an idea of the impact of my gift on the person who receives it, and even a picture helps me to associate my gift with an image that my mind can conjure up. If videos and impact updates can enhance that image, that really resonates with me.

There are numerous scientific studies that have been performed by many institutions, famous universities being among them. Studies about the effects of giving money or time or both, in all sorts of manners; some of the benefits are actually measurable, and some are subjective but clear, a quick summary list being:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Less depression
  • Lower stress levels
  • Longer life
  • Greater happiness

This Stanford study actually found that paradoxically, people who are busy actually feel less time-starved when they give some of their time helping others: research-there-are-big-benefits-giving-your-time

Giving of my time and resources over the years has helped me feel wealthier and healthier in many aspects of my life.
